BRIAN RAWLINS

Brian Rawlins
Brian is a writer/director who was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. When he went to college at University of Texas at Austin he saw Aguirre, The Wrath of God and RoboCop in the same day and decided he wanted to be a filmmaker. His screenplays have won the Austin Film Festival, advanced to the finals of Slamdance and the semi-finals of Shore Scripts England, Cinequest and the ABC/DISNEY Comedy Writing Fellowship. His debut as a writer/director, PENNY & PAUL, which was shot in one day in the harsh, uncontrollable conditions of The Mojave Desert, had it’s world premiere at The Way Down Film Festival, where it also took home Best Overall Short. The film has since gone on to be an Official Selection at the Oscar qualifying Foyle Film festival in Ireland and the Oscar qualifying Palm Springs International Short Fest. Also on the festival circuit, the film has won Best Screenplay and been nominated for Best Acting, Best Comedy and Best Cinematography. Once PENNY & PAUL has finished it’s festival run, it will be acquired/licensed by ShortsTV. Brian has completed another short that will begin it’s festival run later this year, and he is currently in pre-production for a feature he wrote and will also direct.
